I have never heard of (nor can I find anywhere) Apple providing hosting for $20/year. Where is this listed? I am scouring the Podcast Connect site and don’t see anything other than adding premium content to existing shows.
Choose the option to add a new show, then choose the option to host on Apple instead of with an RSS feed. If you continue, it'll prompt you to subscribe.
To be clear: I think it’s a shitty thing to not offer a way to export shows hosted on their service.
But in trying to test this, I found that the $20 for year isn’t a podcast hosting service proper, it’s the “Apple Podcasters Program” and their explanation of it is that it’s for paid content. It makes sense that it would all be DRMed.
I think anyone trying to use this the same way they’d use a regular, RSS-providing podcast host, is doing it wrong. Still, it should be easier to export your stuff.
